turning back now to the destruction that is brought by sandy. the well known city of seaside heights, these pictures have become iconic instead of what used to be ike connick, that roller coaster is sitting in the atlantic ocean. michelle franzen is joining us now. i can only imagine how bad it looks from the air and now you're seeing it up close. >> reporter: yeah. we definitely had a chance to tour here. just to give you a ground look, this is an area where people would normally be walking on the boardwalk in the morning and running, sitting at the park bemp benches. but it's just ripped apart and just the force of the water, we heard stories of how quickly the water raced into this area. over there at the far end of the pier, you can see the aerial shots of that roller coaster and basically almost like a table cloth ripped from the dinner table is how sandy sort of took that boardwalk out from beneath that roller coaster. and so on the other side of it it's just flopped there in the atlantic ocean, just sitting there. it sort of plays tricks

this is just the damage that you saw from sandy. now more damage that you are seeing from the nor'easter that passed through. they're taking it in by the truck full and they are taking it out by the truck full. they've been doing it all day. they were doing it yesterday. they will be doing it tomorrow. you're seeing this up and down the coast here in new jersey. there are still 390,000 customers without power across the state. people are getting very frustrated. there are people that have not had pow er since sandy hit. that's ten full days. there are others who had power, then had it cruelly taken away after this nor'easter hit. the snow when you woke up, chuck, looked very nice out here. but, unfortunately, it's not going to be very pretty. it is going to turn into a slushy mess. >> thanks very much. >>> up next, i got my political panel here. we've got a big look at just how the obama campaign pulled off their victory. >>> but first, the white house soup of the day -- this is good comfort food soup. loaded potato. are they loaded

and then hurricane sandy hit. on tuesday romney will try to do something only accomplished once in 100 years. he'll try not to just unseat an incumbent president, but he's trying to knock a party out of power after just one term. while the president is targeting each part of his coalition with a handful of small arguments, romney is counting on winning the large one. >> he made a lot of promises, but those promises he couldn't keep. and the difference between us, he made promises he couldn't keep, i'm making promises i have kept and i will keep them for the american people. >> so where does that leave us? the two campaigns believe passionately in two different realities. the obama campaign believes the country's demographics have changed the electorate in their favor. the romney campaign believes you have the momentum to swing over. it's possible we are headed for a 50/50 split. it all comes down to nine states or is it seven or is it five? whatever the result, polization is hardening. the house has changed hands
